Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church

Red Oak MBC was organized in 1911 at the old Red Oak School. The church moved to its present location in 1914. Today, the church seeks to spread the Message of God's Hope to the community of Red Oak, the city of Hot Springs, and the state of Arkansas. We also seek to reach the Philippines through our Missionary, Eddie Garcia. Missionary Garcia has already planted one church and is currently in the construction process of building another. Below is more information about us. Please reach out if you have any questions!

Meet our Pastor, Dustyn Lewis

Dustyn has a BBA- Accounting from Henderson State University (2020) and a Masters of Theological Studies from Liberty University (2023).  Along with pastoring, Dustyn works as an accountant for the Arkansas Department of Transportation. Before working at ARDOT, he worked as a Corporate Tax Auditor for the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration. Pastor Dustyn is relatively new to Red Oak, but he's not new to ministry. Dustyn was saved and baptized while at Church Camp at Oak Bower (Lake DeGray) when he was 13. The Lord called Dustyn into Pastoral Ministry two years later at a Vacation Bible School at Reyburn Creek Missionary Baptist Church (Malvern, AR).

After surrendering to preach, from 2013 - 2017, Dustyn had opportunities to preach all over the state of Arkansas. In October 2017, Donaldson Missionary Baptist Church called Dustyn to serve as their Youth Pastor. He accepted and was ordained by Reyburn Creek Missionary Baptist Church on his birthday, November 5, 2017, at age 20.

In August 2019, Dustyn left Donaldson Missionary Baptist Church to pastor West Bauxite Missionary Baptist Church, where he served until August 2022. After believing God was leading him to Red Oak, Dustyn accepted the position of pastor and began on Sunday, March 12, 2023. To contact Pastor Dustyn, send him an email at dustynplewis@gmail.com .

History of Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church

The following is a brief history of the Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church as gathered from available records and verbal information. Red Oak's life has been dotted with the salvation of souls, laboring of the saved people, rejoicing of hearts, weeping of eyes, and passing of lives. Her life is like ours she has grown, membership has increased , and brothers and sisters have grown in grace.  Our beautiful Red Oak community has blossomed around her and the church has become the heart of this community.  All roads lead to her. She stands as a living monument in the Red Oak community in Hot springs, Arkansas. She is a symbol of hard labor for the  Christians and a light on the hill to the sinner. According to the available information, Red Oak was organized in 1911 at the old Red Oak School. As the Lord blessed, the church began to take off. In 1914, the church moved to where it stands today. Electric lights were installed in 1937 and a church bell in 2004. In our record book, there was a notation along the edge that stated, "We had a good rain on July 4, 1920." The rain must have been an answer to many prayers for the clerk to record it!

In 1942, the church tore down the little old square building to begin building a new church house. Up until 1949, each winter, our heating system was a wood stove. With that system, the room did not evenly heat and a kerosene circulator was tried. This did not provide even heat, so the church decided to install a butane system and individual stoves in each room. Also in 1949, the church decided to build new Sunday School rooms on the north side of the building. In 1953, the church decided to build more Sunday School rooms on the south side of the building. Red Oak's first baptistry was completed and used for the first time on April 27, 1975.  Red Oak's current sanctuary was started November 1998. It was finished in 1999 and the first worship service was held on November 21, 1999.  We are praying as we prepare to undergo another project to build more classrooms for teaching God's Word. Over the lifespan of Red Oak, the church has had 25 pastors, and Dustyn Lewis was called to be the 26th in February 2023. We enjoy looking back at the history of Red Oak because it reminds us of God's Faithfulness through the years. We look to the future with anticipation of the great things God will do through Red Oak. God is already doing great things we would love for you to come and be a part of what God's doing here.
